It's International Women's Day Everyday. A tribute to my asian mom

👸🏻 My asian mom.. sometimes utterly annoying because of their constant worrying, stressing and smothering. Taking care of everyone, except for themselves. I used to take it for granted, sometimes got annoyed, but now just realise how much she has sacrificed and does not understand, because she has never experienced “our current lives”. 🙇🏻‍♀️ Where I grew up wearing my jeans inside out (yes, this was a trend), dyeing my hair blond (probably a little identity crisis), being extremely loud and provocative with teachers, boys and anyone in a 2 metre vicinity (puberty, is that you?) - mom and her lady friends would be 𝒑𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 if they would wear jeans, do anything of the above...

Peggy Gou / Just Gou'ing It

😍We have a girl crush. It's Peggy. Peggy-effing-Gou. This brilliant Berlin-based Korean DJ is taking the world by storm and we are fangirls too. 🦹‍♀️It's not only for the fact that Peggy is one of the few female successful DJs (talent and perseverance), has flawless skin (genetics and great maintenance) or even for the fact that every outfit she wears seems to be impeccable (greaaaat taste).  🙅🏻Gou started off quite similar to most Asian kids: her parents sent her to Europe to learn English. She then decided to study fashion but soon realized it wasn't for her and switched to music and moved to Berlin. There she worked in a record shop day-time and at night on her own music - all with the...

Cars, football and loving life to its fullest ⚽ 💁🏼 🚗

👩‍🔧“I think I've been fortunate to grow up in a no-nonsense environment and experienced through the lens of sport and work what comradery and loyalty mean. I have never felt or identified as a minority, or think that I could not solve things that my male partners could. I think it might've made me feel more levelled - no matter what gender I work and play with.” 🥊Meet Sammy Jo (SJ for friends): an ultimate Rotterdam Dutchie whom we met in Koh Samui while punching our guts out at Muay Thai camp . While SJ was handing out killer high kicks, we became intrigued when she explained she's a car mechanic at day and a pro-amateur football player the rest...

Nike, Sharks and the ocean's ultimatum - Meet Miao Wang

Wherever you look, you can find inspiration. When brainstorming about our next feature, we looked closer to home and got thrilled by the thought of featuring a super source of inspiration, and also our dear friend, Miao Wang. Miao balances her time as a brand creative strategist at Nike for Greater China during the day time and saving sharks through her swimwear startup "ISWT / In Sharks We Trust"  at night. As an avid diver, she amazes us with all the stories about the immense beauty of Mother Ocean and the misperception about sharks that we have (yes we must admit.. we also had them). We sat down with Miao to talk about balancing sports and sharks, being a...

The Future is Female.. or at least not male

We love the messaging behind the Future is Female. We love that extra/equal attention for women. For our capabilities, our intellect and our rights. For the powerful message that without us women, there is no "us". Did you know "The Future is Female" was created to represent the lesbian community initially though? And our view on lesbians'/DYKES' style in the 70's and 80's is quite close to our views on "fashionable and stylish" these days? While reading Anna Buckhardt's article about the inspiration behind the slogan and how it was introduced into the world, it was surprising to read that  DYKES typically were dressed in "jeans and T-shirts, pea coats, work boots, denim overalls, sneakers, and Frye boots" or  “..the ever-present bandana/kerchief, which...
